Description

Naggar Tremblay presents “her Handel”, with the complicity of the Orchestre de Chambre de Toulouse, Release concert in Paris on November 23rd & Montreal on December 7th.

The object of the disc fascinates me. I still think of the CDs of my childhood, of their reflective surface, and I now see in them the metaphor of what they represent for me. A piece of the show that you take home, because you have been drawn in by its content, because you recognize yourself in it in some way. Who would recognize themselves in an album dedicated to Handel in the 21st century? I wanted to appeal to all the senses of music lovers to evoke what I love about this repertoire. The gluttony, the baroque “over-the-top”, filling your ears like one devours a box of chocolates. The effervescence of the coloratura that shines with a thousand lights, shimmering like champagne. Handel the gourmand. I would like people to offer this disc to their friends, at happy hour, as a delicacy that inspires the joy of sharing. I hope that the seasoned hosts, the lovers of rhythmic dances, and, above all, the gourmands will recognize themselves in it! Those who always want more…

I have gathered a repertoire that I regularly perform on stage, notably with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and his Orchestre Métropolitain, or at the Capitole de Toulouse under the baton of Christophe Rousset. Famous excerpts such as the Ombra mai fu often serve as an introduction to less frequently performed pieces. I think that the richness of my approach to the repertoire comes from the breadth of my voice and my stylistic versatility. Indeed, I have always tackled contrasting composers, performing Wagner, Verdi, Bach and Handel during the same season. This complementarity allows my voice to grow while preserving its flexibility. A bit like an athlete makes sure to develop both muscle mass and flexibility to maintain a balanced system. So I sing Handel with a Wagnerian voice that moves as fast as a coloratura soprano. Hence the idea of gluttony. In this repertoire, you always want more: more contrasts, more speed, more heights, more depth… There is an amazing bravery, ideal to seduce new listeners.
