Maciré Sylla est née à Conakry en 1970 dans une famille de l’ethnie Soussou. Sa maman, une très jeune artiste, va confier sa fille à la grand-mère, qui vit au village de Tayiré, afin qu’elle assure son éducation. Situé en lisière d’une forêt à la végétation luxuriante, Tayiré est une bourgade de quelques centaines d’habitants, qui surplombe une vaste plaine de rizières périodiquement inondées s’étendant à perte de vue. / Maciré Sylla, whose family belongs to the Soussou ethnic group, was born in Conakry, Guinea, in 1970. Her mother was a very young artist when she was born, so Maciré’s upbringing was entrusted to her maternal grandmother, who lives in Tayiré. This village of a few hundred inhabitants lies on the edge of a lush forest and overlooks a vast flood plain with rice fields stretching as far as the eye can see.
