Formé par les poètes romantiques allemands, ayant hésité entre la littérature et la musique, c’est en poète que Schumann sera musicien. Et, parce qu’il fut pleinement l’incarnation du romantisme, nul mieux que lui ne peut ouvrir la porte de ce domaine enchanté. Toute son œuvre est une invite à partager un rêve et, toute sa vie, il en confiera au piano les plus intimes secrets. Les œuvres réunies ici sont loin d’être les plus enregistrées et, pourtant, leur très grand intérêt est évident. Elles datent des terribles années 1832-1833, où la main droite du jeune compositeur devient infirme. La virtuosité qu’il dédie alors au piano, il sait qu’il devra en confier l’interprétation à d’autres et il soigne d’autant plus son art de la composition…

Because it was completely the embodiment of the romanticism, nobody better than him can open the door of this enchanted domain. All his work is an invitation to share a dream. All his life, he will give to the piano his most inmost secrets. The works combined on this disk are far from being the most recorded and, nevertheless, their interest is big. They date from the ‘Terrible years’1832-1833, when the straight hand of the young composer becomes disabled. Then he knows that he have to let the performance of their virtuosity to others and he looks all the more after his art of the composition…
