Jean-Henry d’Anglebert naquit à Paris en 1628. Organiste et claveciniste, il eut pour maître Chambonnières dont Le Gallois disait : “Tout le monde scait que cet illustre personnage a excellé par-dessus les autres, tant à cause des pièces qu’il a composées, que parce qu’il a été la source de la belle manière de toucher, où il faisait paroître un jeu brillant & un jeu coulant si bien conduit & si bien ménagé l’un avec l’autre qu’il était impossible de mieux faire.“ D ’Anglebert reçu de son maître cet art de faire sonner le clavecin en élaborant une ornementation extrêmement précise, raffinée et personnelle qui reste un modèle indiscutable pour l’interprétation de la musique française de cette époque…/The French composer, organist and harpsichodist Jean-Henry D’Anglebert was born in Paris in 1628. He studied with Chambonnières, of whom Le Gallois said: “Everyone knows that this illustrious figure excelled above all others, not only because of the pieces he composed but also because he gave rise to a fine style of fingering, in which he showed brilliant playing and flowing playing that were so well executed and so well employed together that it was impossible to do better.“ From the latter, D’Anglebert acquired the art of playing the harpsichord whilst elaborating an extremly precise, refined and personal ornamentation which is still an indisputable model for the execution of French music of that period.
