Johann Stamitz (ou Steinmetz ou Staimitz ou selon la transcription phonétique tchèque : Stamic) est issu d’une famille musicienne. Né le 19 juin 1717 à Nemecky (aujourd’hui Havlickuv) Brod, il est le fils du cantor Antonín Stamitz qui aurait été son premier professeur de musique. Johann étudie au lycée de Jihiava et, dès son plus jeune âge, atteint un niveau exceptionnel au violon, même s’il n’est pas historiquement établi qu’il ait joué lors du couronnement de Karl VII à Francfort./ Johann Stamitz (or Steinmetz or Staimitz or, to use the original Czech transcription, Jan Vaclav Stamic) came from a musical family, Born 19th June, 1717 in Nemecky (now Havlickuv) Brod, he was the son of Antonin Stamitzt a cantor who was probably his first music teacher.
